Help and frequently asked questions
Short answers about the planner and about messaging groups on X. If your question isn't here, write to us.
The planner on the home page is the whole tool: type, copy, send it yourself. For a walk-through of what each version is for and how it's built, see how the planner works.
Questions and answers
What does PubliciTweet do?
It formats one announcement into four versions: a public post, a group chat message, a reply thread and a short List note. Each version is counted against the limit that applies to it. You copy the text and send it yourself from X.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no sign-in. The planner is a single web page that works in your browser.
I had a PubliciTweet account years ago. Can I get into it?
No. The site was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management and has no accounts, groups or campaigns from before then. Old sign-in and sign-up addresses now lead to the planner.
Does the planner send anything to X?
No. It has no connection to X, its API or your account. It never posts, never sends messages and never asks for your X password.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. Everything you type is processed by JavaScript in your own browser tab and disappears when you close or reload the page. We don't use cookies or analytics.
How does the character counter work?
It follows X's counting for standard accounts: 280 characters per post, any link counts as 23 characters, and emoji and most CJK characters count as 2. It is very close to what X shows, though X's own counter has the final word.
Why was my post cut short?
Your text plus the link, hashtags and call to action didn't fit in 280 characters, so the planner cut it at a word boundary and added an ellipsis. Use the reply thread version to keep the full text, or shorten the wording.
I have X Premium. Does the 280 limit still matter?
Premium accounts can post much longer text, but most readers see only the first part before Show more. Keeping the essentials inside the first 280 characters still pays off.
Why doesn't PubliciTweet send DMs to all my followers?
X's platform manipulation and spam policy prohibits bulk, high-volume unsolicited DMs and sending the same or nearly the same message repeatedly. A tool that did this would put your account at risk. Our guide on announcing without spamming explains the alternatives.
Where did X Communities go?
X closed Communities in May 2026 and pointed admins to group chats in XChat. Our guide on members-only groups covers what to use instead.
Is PubliciTweet part of X?
No. PubliciTweet is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by X Corp.
I found a mistake. Who do I tell?
Email contact@publicitweet.com. We read everything and correct errors in the guides quickly, especially when X changes a feature.
